If you wrote software that meant patients were booked in for quickly for their appointments, had their records and medical histories stored safely and that their medication would be available when needed, would you care if the patients weren’t human?

We are currently looking for several Java developers who want to work remotely on a very successful software system used by over 1500 UK veterinary practices to help them deliver the best standard of care to the animals they look after. Beyond its well-established customer base in the UK the the company is planning an expansion into the US market where animal healthcare is worth an estimated $ 11 Billion.

The software provides a suite of systems that enable appointment management, patient histories, reminders of scheduled follow-ups, customer billing, and supplier integrations to allow for seamless stock management. The company that own it are publicly traded, profitable and looking to grow.

This company could be a great fit for you if you value any of the following ;

  • Excellent work life balance

  • The ability to work remotely for the majority of the time.

  • Joining an established company that is profitable and investing its profits in growth

  • You like writing software that has purpose and real users

  • You are pragmatic about the realities of building software for a company that already has paying customers.

  •  Remote the majority of the time? Yes. The company has offices across the UK but the software engineers rarely meet more than once a month and the cost of travel is covered when they do.

  • Can I work outside of the UK? No. you would need to be registered for and pay tax in the UK. It is sometimes possible to work for periods outside the UK but this would be agreed upon with your line manager on a case-by-case basis
